Mosaic Florals are made from a combination of glass mosaic backdrops and vases with found objects that substitute for flowers. In this class, Debra will teach you the basics of mosaic art using stained glass and mixed materials. She will share her knowledge of adhesives and specialized tools to help you learn how to prepare and assemble your treasures for mounting and how to work in a ready made frame. Since the arrangement won’t be grouted, you can use materials of all kinds including metal, shells, pearls, fabric, you name it! Debra has incorporated buttons, knobs, shower rings, even coasters! By the time you leave this class, you will go home with a magnificent mosaic bouquet completely unique to you.
Materials included:
scrap glass
mosaic tools
a variety of adhesives
grout
large quantity of filler baubles and beads, jewelry parts
glass cutting tools (bring yours if you have them)
diagonal and side wire cutters
Materials students bring:
a frame you love with the glass intact (no larger than 11×13) or two smaller frames (5×7 or 4×6)
your special items to make your bouquet (jewelry, beads, earrings, plastic, shells, wood, pearls, metal, rhinestones etc.) The more the better!
Apoxie Sculpt two-part epoxy clay (in a complimentary color) is very helpful but not critical (1 lb package available at Avesstudio.com)
If you are in need of more fancy items and more this-and-that to put in your mixed media mosaic, Debra is now curating Custom Collections for purchase.
